Board of Trustees

Aoife Sheridan joined the Board of Management in November 2021. Currently, she is working with an NGO advising large organisations on integrating sustainability. Her role in this organisation sees her working with community organisations and charities, partnering them with corporates to form long-lasting, strategic partnerships. Aoife also advises organisations on governance best practices as well as guidance on how to be more inclusive and diverse workplaces. Prior to her career in sustainability, she spent several years working in recruitment, initially for a recruitment consultancy in Australia where she recruited for over 20 different companies before joining a global, tech firm where she recruited for teams in Ireland, UK, US, and South Africa. Aoife shares her skills and knowledge in governance, community partnerships, inclusive workplaces, and recruitment with our board and the overall Empowerment Plus team.

Martina McGarvey is a qualified Social Worker and has worked in the area of Child Protection and Welfare for 25 years. She has gained vast, varied and valuable experience in working directly with children and young people who live at home and in the care of Tusla.

Martina , through her remit as Social Worker ,has had direct engagement with Empowerment Plus and observed the positive impact that this service can have on families and young people. Now that Martina is retired from a full –time work schedule, her commitment to further supporting the welfare of children continues, and she believes that serving on the Board of Empowerment Plus can assist her with this aim.
